watch out vista installers fyi

Watch out Vista Installers (FYI)

Hi, I tried to install Vista and it worked ok, But I tried to run some products and no go. So I reinstalled XP and guess what , I couldn't install XP had to call Microsoft for a new key. The lines are going to be busy at Microsoft.

Yeah unless you bought the XP Pro Retail then it's probably best to try keep the original intact. Big drives are quite inexpensive today so better to install on a spare drive or backup the original drive 1:1 (clone) to the bigger one otherwise trouble might be waiting if one wants to go back...

I wish that Microsoft came up with a hard drive with the Vista preinstalled. If I was any smarter I would buy a new drive and do a clean install, Does that work?

Hi, I think I will get and extra drive and install the beta and then when the time comes for the software makers to be ready. I'll buy a new machine. This new O/S will cost more money not less. People have to install the new hardware and then buy the new software for the machines. It will be a good idea to have the MS Office 2007 preinstalled on the Vista and have the Antivirus preinstalled and the accounting software preinstalled for the business users.
